exploring eLearning 2018. A wonderful learning experience The third edition of exploring eLearning, to be held in Milan on 6 and 7 June 2018, is about to start! This edition is yet another stage of the journey begun in 2015 that has involved over 800 trainers from 300 large Italian and multinational organisations. The first edition in 2015 was dedicated to 36 topics of innovation in training in the area of eLearning the 2016 edition focused on the 7 most important trends in digital innovation. What is exploring eLearning exploring eLearning is, first and foremost, an exclusive training opportunity for business training professionals and the world of HR, an opportunity to gain inspiration for oneself and for one’s own work, to grasp the current trends and innovations, an opportunity for discussion and benchmarking among business colleagues, a collective design lab. At exploring eLearning, we talk about innovation by practicing it, there are no speakers or passive participants as is the case at traditional conferences, no round tables, but total, interactive immersion in laboratories, cases, comparisons. A distinguished Scientific Committee of prestigious Italian and foreign universities and over 50 Corporate Academies presenting their application cases and contributing to the planning and management of the event. exploring eLearning 2018 completes the path by introducing important innovations, not only in terms of contents, but also in terms of format and location: we will be guests of Cavallerizze, 1,600 square meters in a contemporary and international scenario, full of science, design and modernity. They are historical structures, since they were two military stables with stables included at the center. The building is situated within the complex of the National Museum of Science and Technology of Milan, a suggestive location of great inspiration. The contents of exploring eLearning 2018 The third edition extends the boundaries of Digital Learning to offer a global vision of the learning experience in its entirety. The exploration crosses new stations, ranging from Informal Learning to theInteractive Classroom and from Training on the Job to Artificial Intelligence and Mixed Reality: a journey to (re) design blended architectures capable of facilitating and nurturing the training of people involved in continuous learning, with different needs, methods, contexts and times. The 4 pillars of 2018 1) Engagement. Involving and motivating people in learning innovation. Innovations are increasingly quick and pervasive, which means that people and organisations are not always equipped to keep up. eLearning is one of these innovations and is growing in all organisations in terms of volume and variety of uses, but people are used to scholastic models, frontal classrooms and not studying on their own, especially sat in front of a computer. The challenges faced in the posterLabs: How to involve and motivate participants in an online course? How to promote learning through the beauty of the content? What specific methods should be put forward to stimulate self-learning? How to communicate and promote online training courses internally to ensure that the experience is a success? 2) Microlearning.Making the content for amplifying the learning experience essential. Microlearning is one of the main global trends. Learning environments, times and places are changing. Learning is continuous, occurs through a number of channels (mobile learning will be one of the prevailing ones), anywhere, at any time. The representation of knowledge becomes increasingly granular so that it can be capitalised and reused at any time. The challenges faced in the posterLabs: When is microlearning useful? Can it represent the solution to the demand for on-demand training to support performance? Are there links to adaptive learning? How does the design and production of granular training units change? Which languages are involved? Which technologies are involved? Which methods are involved? How can continuously updated minimum training units be autonomously created? 3) Digital Transformation. Learning technologies, learning through technologies. This is an increasingly debated topic. Training is deeply involved in the dual challenge of innovating itself and being the driver of innovation throughout the organisation. Digital transformation has a major impact on training and goes beyond eLearning because it involves all activities, ranging from the classroom to on-the-job and through to the learning experience in its entirety. The challenges faced in the posterLabs: How to start a process of digital transformation that improves the company starting from people’s technological, cultural and digital skills environments? What do the terms industry 4.0 and smart factory mean for our organisations? How can people be helped to develop a digital mindset? How can technologies be used to amplify the formal and informal learning experience? What are the new skills for HR people? 4) Start eLearning.6 steps to manage the transition to digital learning. An area dedicated to all organisations that want to start or are starting a process of innovation towards digital training. The challenges faced in the posterLabs: How to start digital learning in a company? Which best practices to aim for? Which errors to avoid? A launch pad for future eLearning experiences: how to choose the pilot path? How to equip the organisation? The dawn of digital education is coming and will be the show of a lifetime. The format As in previous editions, the theoretical sections are prepared beforehand, including training videos and infographics, in order to dedicate the experience of being physically present to full immersion in the cases and the practical experimentation of innovations (see an example from 2015 and an example from 2016). Each of the 4 pillars will be divided into 6 workshops that will use the posterLab method, based on corporate cases the topics will be explored in the following 24 interactive workshops, amounting to a total of 96 in-depth operational areas. Participants will be able to practice different methodologies to innovate the classroom experience of their own organisations. The interactive activity will be supplemented by over 30 permanent areas of technological full immersion, including experiences involving virtual reality, robotics, new technologies and teaching methods made available by companies, partners and universities. The selection of which didactic experiences and innovative solutions will be used in the permanent areas will be completed by February 2018. Two preparatory workshops have already been held in BNL and Nestlé, with over 160 trainers and HR people from the companies in Rome and Milan participating.
